The light in this scene is apparently very simple but it is very strong in composition. The movie is “Braveheart”.
The movie recreates the medieval era, therefore, the source of that light is supposed to be the moon. In one hand, that light is very bright for being the moon, and in that era (middle age) there were not available powerful reflectors, therefore this type of lighting was set only for composition and not to emulate the moon light. Beside that, the composition is interesting. many elements creates this scene. First, the silhouettes of the characters, trees and their branches are well defined. Second, the grass on the ground has a interesting glowing, apparently the ground was wet for this scene. Finally, it is nice the quantity of colors that interact in this composition such as green, blue and black.

Braveheart
February 7, 2010Avalon
February 7, 2010Lighting in this scene of the movie “Avalon” is set as strict motivational. There are many sources on the scene and the objective of them is to recreate an enviroment. The lights take the spectator eye to the back of the set, where a character is sit. The lighting it is not that important but contributes to the composition. The characters are distributed in the scene under the rule of thirds.
obviously there was a post production treatment over this image, not only for the color but also for the glowing on the light sources.
Red cliff
February 7, 2010apparently in this scene of the movie called “Red cliff” there are two high intensity lights.
One is entering from the door, placed in the opposite of the camera place. The second hight intensity light it is on the right of this light. Both of this lights create beautiful lines that affects the set or stress the actress.
Also there are many low intensity and colorful lights that only are in the set for reinforcing the mood or just to build the scene composition.
Rec
February 7, 2010Rec
February 7, 2010This is a scene from the movie entitled REC. It is interesting how the light is distributed over the stair rail. The distribution of the light in this surface creates a line towards the door, where the actor is going.
Also there is a light on the top of the stairs that gives depth to the spectator and because of the quality of this light (high intensity) lead the spectator “eye” to that specific area of the set.
